China has started building the largest textile and garment city in Egypt, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar announced recently. The city, being built by Chinese holding firm Mankai, will cover more than 3,000,000 sq mtr in Sadat, North of Cairo, and will comprise 592 factories. Factories in the first stage will begin pilot operations in May. Beijing has signed initial sales contracts for 48 first-stage factories for Chinese companies, according to Egyptian media reports.
