OP Prahladka, Chairman, EPCH and Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director – EPCH met Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and discussed various issues with respect to import of wood logs for manufacturing wooden handicrafts, sanitary import permit for bone and horns, phyto sanitary certificate requirement for export of wooden handicrafts.

OP Prahladka, Chairman – EPCH said that the Hon’ble Minister gave a patient hearing on all the issues and assured all possible help so as to facilitate export of wooden handicrafts from the country by making the imports of various species of wood available from all across the globe to the Indian handicrafts exporters.

Rakesh Kumar, ED – EPCH said that the Hon’ble Minister would convene a high level stakeholders meeting shortly so as to assess all our demands and assured a favourable outcome in the matter.

The exports of handicrafts during the latest period April- June 2018-19 have registered a growth of 3.52 per cent in Rupee terms and stands at Rs. 5797 cr. However, in dollar terms there is a marginal decline (-) 0.39 per cent with exports of $865 mn. The exports of woodware during the period April- June 2018-19 have registered a growth of 5.55 per cent in Rupee terms and stands at Rs. 1,014.96 cr and a growth of 1.56 per cent in dollar terms with exports of $151.5 mn.
