One of the two biggest home textiles exhibitions in the world EVTEKS broke a record in the number of international and national visitors thanks to the updated data of CNR Holding and the efforts of both the department of international visitors and the offices located abroad. EVTEKS broke a new record in the number of international visitors with a 20 per cent increase where 50,193 home textile buyers from 120 countries made new business deals with the exhibiting companies.

Istanbul International Home Textile Exhibition (EVTEKS) as one of the two biggest exhibitions in the home textile industry closed its doors with a recordbreaking number of visitors. Global textile buyers from 120 countries including the US, Germany, Iran, Russia, Ukraine, England, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Siberia, China, India, Italy, Spain visited the 24th EVTEKS where thousands of home textile products were showcased. Thus, the exhibition achieved a new record in the number of foreign visitors with a 20 per cent increase.

A total of 135,158 people visited EVTEKS exhibition organised by ITF Istanbul Trade Fairs operating under CNR Holding in cooperation with the Association of Turkish Home Textile Industrialists and Businessmen (TETSIAD). At the exhibition where recent developments are displayed, products giving direction to new trends and shaping the fashion in the home textiles industry attracted intense interest by the visitors.

The opening ceremony

The exhibition was held from April 23-28, 2018. Deputy Minister of Economy Fatih Metin, AK Party Deputy of Denizli Sahin Tin, Governor of Istanbul Vasip Sahin, TETSIAD Chairman Ali Sami Aydin and Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (ITHIB) President Ahmet Öksüz participated at the opening ceremony hosted by CNR Holding Chairman Ceyda Erem.

Full support to companies expanding to new markets

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Economy Fatih Metin said that the world home textiles market was worth $66 bn. Stating that Turkey had achieved $2.6 bn export volume in the home textile industry last year, and aimed to increase it to $3 bn this year, he continued his words adding, “We rank third place in the world home textile industry. However, we have the potential to do even better because we continuously renew ourselves regarding design and innovation. As the Ministry, we also give full support to design and innovation to promote the exports. That’s why you have the potential and support to surpass $3 bn in exports. Benefit from these supports.” Stating that companies should not only focus on the European Union and the US markets, Metinemphasised that expanding to new markets will be fully supported.

EVTEKS is home textile industry’s gateway to the world

TETSIAD Chairman Ali Sami Aydin stated that EVTEKS was Turkish home textile industry’s gateway to the world, and emphasised its importance in the cultural and design sense. Aydin said, “The awakening of nature in April offering fresh starts and vivacity inspires us. For this reason, we have organised” EVTEKS with the April Effect” in April. In 2019, the world will be using our designs and products in home textiles. And the address for this will be EVTEKS. Our 2019 designs will meet the visitors for the first time in this exhibition.”

Fragrant curtains will change the air of the homes

World-known innovation and creativity agency Nelly Rodi set EVTEKS fashion and trend theme of this year as ‘Fascination.’ In the exhibition, new products with Fresh Light, Imaginary, Signature and Full Sun trends in line with the “Fascination” theme were displayed to the liking of visitors including fragrant curtains freshening up the air, and fire-resistant upholstery.

Massive support to the exports from EVTEKS

The exhibition contributed to the $3 bn export target of the home textiles industry by 30 per cent this year. Thanks to bilateral business negotiations and new business contacts during the exhibition, this contribution is expected to increase continuously until the new season. EVTEKS, the most extensive home textiles exhibition in Turkey, which is the fourth largest exporter country in the world, has been noted as a platform to supply products to many countries, mainly the European countries.

New business deals were made

A wide variety of products including curtains, curtain accessories, tulles, upholstery fabric, kitchen and dining room textiles, towels and bathroom products, sleeping and bedroom textiles, threads, floor coverings, wall coverings and decoration items attracted intense interest. The participating companies held B2B meetings thanks to the procurement committee programme supported by the Ministry of Economy.
