Jaipur Rugs has been felicitated with the ‘Top Corporate Social Responsibility Awards Projects in India’ for their initiative ‘Artisan Originals’ at the recent SKOCH Corporate Excellence Award. The Artisan Original is a sustainable initiative of The Weaver Design Project by Jaipur Rugs which taps the untamed fashion from the villages of India. The initiative experiments with the originality of rural craftspeople and nurtures their creative potential which remains unexplored at a global stage.
“We are honoured to have received the award which is a gratification for our commitment to ethical carpet making and continuous upliftment of our artisans. Through Jaipur Rugs Foundation, we seek to establish Jaipur Rugs as a consumer brand that would work towards the betterment of weavers, so that weavers are respected and given due credit for their work,” Founder and CMD of Jaipur Rugs, Nand Kishore Chaudhary said.
The SKOCH Awards celebrate human excellence and agents of change in Indian society and recognises corporates who have had transformational impact on the society by creating majority of the jobs and have been instrumental in improving the lives of the people. Jaipur Rugs Foundation has always focused on and reached out to remote rural areas and establish bonds with the village communities, enabling them to start weaving not just rugs but also their own lives.
