Canadian circular knitter Tricots Liesse, a company best known for its high-end apparel collections, has diversified into the mattress ticking sector. Tricots Liesse has teamed up cellulosic fibre specialist Lenzing to use Tencel to develop a collection of uniquely designed, mattress ticking fabrics.

Under the “Feels so Right” logo, the three-fabric, branded collection will offer naturally cooling properties, a sustainability story and fashion-forward fabrics giving manufacturers the ability to elevate the look, feel and consumer appeal of mattresses, the company said.

The three new fabrics, expand the company’s Tencel line to 16 designs. One of the three new designs knitted using 100 per cent Tencel fibres while the other two features blended fibres. Tricots Liesse, best known for its work in the fashion industry, first entered the mattress industry last year. Since its expansion into the home furnishings sector, it has partnered with several of the top-tier mattress brands.

Our new partnership with Tencel is key to our growth in the category.” In addition to the Tencel brand lineup, Tricots Liesse offers a number of ticking designs with advanced fibres and finishes, including phase-change materials, organic cotton, Q10, copper, cashmere, hemp, bamboo, linen and anti-microbial properties.

Founded in 1965 as a manufacturer of circular single knits for apparel, privately held, Montreal, Canada-based Tricots Liesse, has grown and diversified to supply a wide range of knitted fabrics to leading brands in bedding, sportswear, swimwear and technical textiles. In addition to the company’s 250,000-square-foot facility in Montreal, Tricots Liesse has sales offices in New York and Los Angeles, and a warehouse in High Point, North Carolina.
